Divide and Conquer

The trick to finding having a toddler and a new baby a breeze is to have a toddler and twins. When you have twins you feel like you should keep them together, you should do with one what you are doing with the other. Today, however we started a new swimming class and decided to take them on different days so that we don’t require a whole entourage to go to the class.

So of the first time I have my two year old and one baby. It feel like a breeze. I’ve actually managed to sit down and have a cup of tea, watch a bit of tv and get dressed. And most importantly all the kids in the house are asleep at the same time. A rare occurrence with three of them. I don’t feel bad for holding one baby in my arms as the other twin looks at us and I can let my toddler play outside and be able to walk in and out of the house to check on her without having to secure a baby inside first. I can pick one up and go. The logistics are so much easier and the house a lot calmer.

And it couldn’t have come at a better time as I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself after a few drinks out with the girls. It was my first night out in about two years I think and it was lovely to get dressed up, put a bit of make up on and go out. And even though I fell like I’m paying for it now it has really lifted my spirits. My husband was shocked when I told him I had to walk up and get the car, neither of us can remember the last time that happened as I think I’ve been the DD for the last three years being either pregnant or a new mum. I hope that we do it again soon. The key to being a good mum is to go out the door and leave them behind for a few hours and recharge your ‘amazing you’ battery before going back to being plain only mammy!

Well I hear the baby stirring so have to keep it short and sweet but it was amazing while it lasted. Looking forward to next Sunday.
