So every year I come across the ‘colour’ of the year. Paint companies try and market it their own but to me the main one is The Pantone Color of the Year. Pantone is a company that is best know for its colour matching system used in lots of industries including fashion, design, graphics, product design and printing. So for me it’s the most relevant in terms of trends for the coming year.
According to Pantone the ‘selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s colour experts at the Pantone Color Institute™ comb the world looking for new colour influences.’
Well I suppose for the year it’s a colour theme that is likely to be seen in lots of different things by your customers. The colour for 2022 is Very Peri. It is a mix of the trusted and loved qualities of the blues and violet-red gives it a joyful, dynamic feel. It’s a colour, usually, created for the occasions that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.

But how you can use it in your business and does it really set trends.
When a new colour is announced, Pantone offers colour combination palettes designed especially with the corresponding colour in mind. The extensive color trending research done by the Pantone Color Institute saves you countless hours of marketing research for your own business.
So the first thing is to brain storm how you can incorporate this into your business. Can you source products for your store in this colour or can you produce a variant of your product in the colour scheme.
Here are 5 ideas of how you can use it to jump on this relevant trend in a relatively low cost way and don’t forget to use the hastag #COY2022
- Change the colour theme of your landing page to incorporate Very Peri
- Add some Very Peri to your advert campaign for 2022
- Use it for your promotional materials
- Get some new fixtures and fittings in your workspace in Very Peri. Then make sure that are in the shot when you are taking your behind the scenes photos.
- Jump on the trend and use it do a story with your customers ‘where to find the new Very Peri’
Personally I love the colour. I think it’s going to feature strongly in Christmas 2022 and I especially love the Wellspring colour pallet.
